psalm 20

January 28, 2022

Where do you put your trust? Do you put it in your health, money, or possessions? As we go through life, there are seasons of ups and downs. If we aren’t facing it now, at some point we will face uncertainty. The way we prepare for it and get through it depends on where we put our trust. We know to put our trust in God. But what does that look like?

As a king leading an army in battle, he most likely wins the victory or dies. Psalm 20 shows us how to face uncertainty, and that is through prayer. David prayed, "May the Lord answer you when you are in distress." When we pray, God can align our desires with His purpose to bring us peace. David continues and declares his trust in God. Verse 7 says, "We trust in the name of the Lord our God." The name Yahweh represents God's protection and revelation of His presence with His people. As children of God, we have a relationship with Him. He is present with us in our highs and lows.

Whether you are facing your own battle or life is pretty good right now, make sure to start your day by acknowledging your Savior. It doesn’t have to take an hour. You can spend 5 minutes reading scripture, 5 minutes praying, and 5 minutes in worship. If you only have a few minutes, download the Bible app on your phone. Make that the first thing you open each morning or listen as you drive to work. “In all your ways, acknowledge Him, and He will direct your path.”
